Tony Iommi Has Lymphoma
Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath guitarist (duh!), has been diagnosed with lymphoma. It is in the early stages, which is good news that they were able to catch it early. That is a testament to getting your old ass to the doctors often you old Iatrophobes.
Iommi is 63 years old and fighting lymphoma is no joke. The treatment can range from chemotherapy to radiotherapy to even a bone marrow transplant. Iommi is working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan and remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery. The rest of the members of Black Sabbath have flown to England to continue working on new material with producer Rick Rubin.
This is a perfect opportunity for me to sing the praises of Bethematch.org. Bone marrow is needed every day and the chances of you being a match for someone on the list suffering from cancer or some other disease is astronomical. But wouldn't you want the ability to save someone's life if you had the chance? I signed up a while ago, but haven't been contacted yet. I probably never will, but the small amount of pain I would have to endure to save someone else's life would be worth it to me. Give the site a look and hopefully you decide to sign up and potentially save a child's life...or hell maybe even Tony Iommi.
Get well Tony. I'm eager to hear this new Black Sabbath material. I've been waiting decades to hear it.
