Van Halen To Release New Song Next Week
Well like a good boy, I waited all night for St. Van Halen to arrive at my house. And typical St. Van Halen style, they never showed, but they GOD did send a messanger...a burning Jack Daniels bottle. "Tattoo will arrive January 10th."
"What the fuck is Tattoo?" I asked the burning Jack Daniels bottle. "They will arrive" was the final cryptic message as the bottle turned back into a full container of famous Tennessee whiskey.
As someone who fancies himself close to GOD...err I mean DLR...and only in the spiritual sense, I can postulate that Tattoo will be the first single Van Halen will release and that it will smack us direct in the ear hole next week.
Some sources are claiming a summer tour, my source is still claiming a spring tour. What are the chances of either? Let's dish.
Spring is typically a dead concert tour time. Most bands want to tour in the summer because they have access to bigger, outdoor venues, and people typically take the summer (May-September) to vacation and possibly see shows. This is an excellent argument for the summer tour schedule. However, spring could have less competition allowing Van Halen to be the biggest tour of the spring and essentially monopolize the concert industry for itself.
Tickets will go on sale next week (January 10) for most of the shows across the United States. Ticket promoters and vendors (Live Nation/Ticketmaster) like to have a six month lead time before the event to properly promote it. This is why I am going to believe that it will be a big summer door hitting indoor arenas. Six months from ticket onsale date would put the tour beginning around June/July.
My source has only been wrong two times before and he is sticking with the April month for an indoor arena tour; for reasons stated above I am less inclined to believe him on this. Some dates he says could kick off as early as next month. A month turn around from ticket on sale to concert date? Not likely says this guy.
What was sent around as January 3rd, big Van Halen news, has turned into the waiting game. For fans like myself, I have waited three years since seeing this incarnation of Van Halen (it's the closest we will get to a full reunion), what's waiting another week?
As always, I will be on top of this story like a my fat ex girlfriend was on top of cake. Plus there isn't any other news going on so this gives me something to work on.
