Axl Rose Talks About Guns N' Roses Reunion and RnR HOF
The LA Times wrote a fluff piece about the current Guns N' Roses lineup and had some intimate conversation with Axl where they were able to see him in a robe and socks. JEALOUS!?
Axl doesn't give many interviews and just the ability to get one is insane. I have asked his Berumdaian hairdressers, fitness instructor if I could get just five minutes with Axl and even HE couldn't get me on the schedule. If I could ask him one question it would be "Did he really think it was going to last when he married Erin Everly?" I mean the story goes he showed up with a gun and said he was going to kill himself if she didn't marry him, he had to believe it wasn't going to last right?
Back to the story, the article is worth reading, even though it is fluffed out with superfluous descriptors like It's 3 a.m., and the singer, the sole remaining original member, has shed the bad-ass sunglasses and flat-brimmed Stetson-style hat he wore onstage, pulled off the snakeskin boots and changed out of his faded bell bottoms. No one cares champ!
But the article writer was able to coax some more information about the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony from the usually tight lipped Rose.
"I've got mixed emotions about what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame actually really is, but at the same time, there's a lot of people — the fans — that it just means something to them, and they're happy. It's like you won the Heisman or something."

The last thing Rose wants to do, he stresses, is ruin it for others. He refers to Marlon Brando sending an American Indian activist to accept his Oscar and give a protest speech "and everybody getting … off, or when Michael Moore got up at the Academy Awards and said whatever about George Bush. People don't want that associated with their awards shows, even if you have a big audience. In one way it might be right, but it usually backfires on whoever does it. So I really don't want to spoil it for everybody else — or take the beating."
"There is no plan yet. There really is no plan. We're still busy with this lineup. We're gonna be busy — we're gonna be busy all next year. We'll be putting out new stuff as soon as we can figure out what our deal is with labels, blah blah blah."
But then in another separate interview he hints at who it would take for a legit Guns N' Roses reunion and it was Slash and Duff. He insinuated he would be happier keeping his current session players in place of Izzy and Steven Adler.
"The only thing that would make it would be Duff and Slash, really. It's nothing against Izzy and it's nothing against Steven, or anything like that.
"Steven may want it, but these guys I'm working with right now, they work really hard and it's hard work. I've toured with the other guys and I've also seen what they've done since, and I just know the difficulties. So it's not really even a full reunion."
Ok Adler I can see. While I love the sound Adler brings on Appetite, Matt Sorum is just as accomplished and doesn't have the emotional baggage Adler would surely bring. But Izzy?! No Izzy HAS to be there as a lot of what is found on Appetite is the sound of Izzy and Izzy's ear for arrangements. Izzy absolutely deserves to be part of that reunion tour.
Hell, Izzy's solo albums have been head and shoulders above Chinese Democracy (obviously) and I'd say Slash's solo work. No Izzy, No Guns. That fact can't be argued.

I think you guys took Axl's quote regarding Izzy & Steven out of context.
It doesn't seem to me like he was referring to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction with that quote, but a potential Guns N' Roses reunion.

My quote from the article: "But then in another separate interview he hints at who it would take for a legit Guns N' Roses reunion and it was Slash and Duff."
I combined the two articles into one post. One article where Axl talks about the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and a totally separate interview where he discusses the reunion and what it would take.
I stand firm, without Izzy there can't be a legit reunion tour. Slot in your drummer of choice because in a way Matt Sorum at this stage is a better drummer than Adler. Plus Axl never really liked Adler.
One thing that is evident in both linked articles, Axl has a major distrust and almost hatred of managers and handlers. He almost seems to loathe them making a dingy sized money grab on four minutes of phone calls. He's right in a way. Actually, that's a great post idea....I'll work on that a bit later. Thanks for the inspiration.
