Today I Passed My Spanish Oral Exam in 2001
Today is the tenth anniversary of George Harrison's death and the day I passed college Spanish. The news had just broke on November 29, 2001 that George had died of cancer. He was battling throat, brain, and apparently lung cancer. I had an Spanish oral exam I was pretty nervous about since I really didn't go to class. When was I going to need Spanish? This was before Sears put all their signs in Spanish and I had to push 2 for English.
2001 was when we listened to the radio and didn't have smart phones or Twitter. We were reliant on TV, Radio, and Friends to deliver the news. I heard from the radio mere moments as I drove to the exam. My Spanish teacher was smoking hot. About 25 years old, blond, great, perky tetas. Part of my nervousness was fear of her finding me to be the true loser I am.
The idea of the oral exam was to have a conversation in Spanish, but we had to bring topics to talk about. Of course, I didn't prepare because I hadn't done any work except when it was required. I walk in to the exam room and find her naked on the desk listening to While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Or I found her erasing the black board from the previous class. All we talked about was Beatles music and George Harrison, all in Spanish. Of course I received an A so I have to thank George Harrison for dying that day and giving me something to talk about to pass my Spanish exam.
Gracias Senor George Harrison. I was going to go with a Beatles song and then I was going to go with While My Guitar Gently Weeps but I decided to go with Got My Mind Set On You for the total 80's cheese.
