Red Hot Chili Peppers Offer Recordings of Concert on Tour

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have taken a page directly from Pearl Jam and will record each stop on their upcoming tour. Fans will be able to download the recordings in MP3, CD-quality FLAC, or iTunes-friendly Apple Lossless formats within two to three days of each show at www.redhotchilipeppers.com,where all upcoming tour dates can also be found.

The recording of each show is an interesting concept and I see the novelty of owning the show you went to on MP3 or FLAC. But the RHCP aren't known for changing the setlist dramatically like Pearl Jam, so will fans who attended the Philly show really give a shit about the NYC show? Early thoughts, no.

Pearl Jam's setlist changes nightly and each show is unique to that night and that city. That allows fans of Pearl Jam to purchase multiple recordings from different stops on the tour because each one is unique. I just don't see that happening with the RHCP shows.

Of course, that was my initial thoughts on the subject, until I realized they were offering the downloads for free. My urge to kill was subsided and I went back to attempting to suck my own dick and finger-banging my ass. You should too.

I didn't like I'm With You, which is a damn shame because I liked The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie. I have felt since Californication the band has really mailed it in. It went from a funk, intricate style to a pop melody. And fans bought those albums in the millions, rewarding the band for mediocrity. If Metallica kept putting out Load sounding albums, fans would want to cut their heads off. I was hoping the addition of Klinghoffer would breathe new life into the band, but he almost got the Jason Newsted treatment.

But this fact I can't ever deny, they put on a great performance. I got to see them for the first time on their Stadium Arcadium tour and my brother Lars Wettner was also there. It was the first date for him and his now wife. I arrived late to the then Wachovia Center and saw him and his date (now wife) chomping down on a giant turkey leg. I'm going to hyperbolize this for a moment, they looked like two hungry dogs fighting over a bone. I will never shake that first impression of my now sister-in-law. Kind of looked like this:
