Facebook Moves Toward Music Sharing

Facebook is undergoing a few big changes as it attempts to control your life and be the "connective tissue" for your daily routines. One big change is the use of music sharing through a real time ticker. The idea here is that you will be able to see what your friends are listening to and listen to the same song if interested.

You will be able to keep track of your friends favorite albums, songs, porno soundtrack whatever. The idea of this is solid! Who, but your friends, turned you on to great music? I found great music using my friends in high school and college. I still use most of you to find great, unfound bands to promote, review, and fellate. But there is a big problem with this; here's Marc Zuckerberg's comments:

"I can see all the stuff [my friend] is listening to, and play it with whatever music player he used to play it."

Whatever music player he used to play it? Ok if that doesn't flag it right there, let me spell it out. If your friend is using Pandora and posting songs through that to their profile, you will have to have a Pandora account to listen to the song. Presumably any online streaming service you will have to sign in to that account to listen to the songs. Otherwise, you will only get a 30 second preview of the clip and I have no idea where that 30 seconds will start. If it is at the beginning, you won't even get to the good parts of the ELO songs.

This is also a problem if your friend uses a paid service because you will also have to pay. The service Marc loves is Spotify, and they might finally gain the market share here in the US after winning over England and the Wettner household. Spotify allows you to stream YOUR music to another computer. But you have to pay Spotify if you want to stream that music to your phone. If you want to know more about Spotify's Facebook take over, check it here.
