David Bowie Has Retired From Music

The news has reported that David Bowie has "retired" from music. The quote is from David Bowie's biographer, who coincidentally is trying to sell his new book Starman. He spoke to Spinner magazine and said this:

My heart says he'll come back. But my head says he's likely not to. I think he would only come back if he thinks he could deliver something that will be seismic. If you pop back into the stage, it's got to be something that has a big explosion and lots of flashes. It would be a bit of a miracle if he comes back, but miracles do happen.

Ok so someone not really attached to Bowie is relaying his feelings that Bowie is retired and won't come back unless he can do something big. Let me rephrase this: an author, not Bowie, is sharing his opinion on Bowie not returning until Bowie is inspired. Color me unimpressed.

Bowie hasn't toured or done anything since 2003's Reality tour. He has moved more into acting and occasionally stepping on stage with a few acts he loves. The man doesn't have to work another day in his life, but chooses to challenge himself in the acting realm. He has nothing left to prove in the music realm and no reason to tour (that's done usually for boredom and money...two things Bowie doesn't have to worry about).

David is one of my favorite artists and I missed the 2003's Reality tour. I was a broke college student at the time and didn't have the money to pay to see him. I am kicking myself because the reviews from that show were amazing and certainly a wonderful career-spanning perspective.

David was an amazing showman and I find it hard that he is hanging up his boots. But if anyone knows about going out on top, it's Bowie.
