Stage Collapse in Indiana Kills 4 at Sugarland Concert
This is absolutely scary news. Four people were killed and a dozen or so were injured last night (Saturday) when the stage collapsed at a Sugarland concert. About 200 people were sitting in a special VIP area when a gust of wind from an oncoming storm collapsed the area around them.
This is the second time a storm has caused such a dramatic stage collapse. The last time was at a Cheap Trick concert in Canada. Link

I am here to comment using my experience and knowledge of the industry. These are unfortunately inevitable consequences when you deal with outdoor festivals. When you have to erect stages in a cornfield for the Seacauscus Community Fair in FuckNosWhere, Oklahoma, it has the potential for disaster. In the summer storms pop up in Tornado Alley that contain high gusting winds, damaging hail, and lightning.
There will be an extensive investigation to see, if somewhere along the line, the stage was made cheaply or incorrectly. However, sometimes, it's just a freak of nature. Those outdoor stages are designed to support the weight of amps, gear, bands, etc, not withstand 50+ MPH winds in all directions. Perhaps they need to start looking into that.

I guess the four dead people can rest in peace knowing they didn't have to listen to Sugarland and that their death saved thousands from also hearing Sugarland. Considering this is country music we are talking about here, there is plenty of sob story to last Sugarland their entire career. Wife left me, car got scratched, stage fell on fans.
