Jani Lane Found Dead

Jani Lane, former lead singer of Warrant, was found dead this morning in a Comfort Inn around Woodland Hills. No determination of death has been given as of 11:17 AM EST, but placing my CSI hat on, I would suspect alcoholism.

Jani had been battling alcoholism longer than this site has been in existence. I have mentioned many times about his DUI arrests, his tax problems, and how Warrant had moved on without Lane. I was smacked around by Lane's number one fan about how I was spreading misinformation about what he looks like today.

The halls of Rock N' Roll are lined with drug overdoses, wasted talent, and dead bodies. Some can handle the fame, some learn to deal with the fame, some getting eaten by the fame. Lane was an alcoholic and that would have been his life whether we would be here talking about his death or not. He could have been old John Oswald from Akron, Ohio that died of alcoholism.

I was never a fan of Warrant and I think we need to remember they were a generic hair metal band. There were other hair metal acts that did what Warrant did BETTER than Warrant.

But I am not going to kick the dead. Instead I merely say RIP Jani and if you are suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction, seek help. We don't need to lose anymore rock n' rollers! This is my favorite Warrant song for that guitar solo in the middle of it.
