The Mississippi Queen is hopping mad, she had her leg amputated yesterday. Leslie West, who is actually male, is the man behind Mountain and had emergency surgery yesterday to remove his leg. That is really scary because I just couldn't imagine not being able to rollerblade on the weekends in my cut off jorts. 

West is a diabetic and his leg began swelling to the point surgery was needed to save his life. His leg was amputated below the knee and he is recovering in the hospital. 

I had the chance to see Leslie West open for Joe Satriani a while back and he was great. I forgot how great Mountain songs were since the only song we ever really hear is Mississippi Queen. Get better Leslie because we need you to keep that sound alive.
