Grammy Awards Cut Almost 30 Categories

We are not fans of the Grammy Awards ever since Best Hard Rock album went to Jethro Tull and not Metallica for ...And Justice For All. Today the Grammy Awards announced they were cutting 30 categories that they called their more exotic categories.

No longer will there be Grammy awards for Best Native American album, Best Spoken-word Children's album, Best Zydeco album, Best Cajun album, etc. The categories were cut from 109 to 78 and I see it as a good thing and an inevitability of the industry. There just are not enough music released in any given year to fill out the categories. This will cut the categories down and Tia Carrere will no longer win a Grammy for Best Hawaiian album and the "Fart-ology" iPhone app won't win Best Modern Rock Instrumental.

The Grammy telecast has become more about performances and less about handing out awards anyway. Mine as well just make it an entire night of musical celebration and collaboration. I have included a picture of Tia winning her Grammy just so you know I am telling the truth about her. The Fart-ology app did not win, it was robbed!!!
