Sonic Shock's Hell To Pay Album Review

This review took longer than it should have because the FBI visited my house to deliver Sonic Shock's Hell to Pay personally. I don't know what the band has done to deserve such extreme vigilance on behalf of the United States government, but it might be due to that hooker they left in the California desert. Whoops, I wasn't supposed to admit that in print.

We introduced you to Sonic Shock a while back. They sent us a few songs to review and I aptly titled the EP "Lords of Pussy." It perfectly summed up the band's ideology. They are no Vassals of Vagina, but extreme Lords of Pussy.

The band's new album takes a few of the songs we reviewed early and wraps a stronger production value around it. You still have the grimy, vocals of Ben crooning your whiskey infused Saturday night. Ben sounds like a dirtier Blaine Cartwright of Nashville Pussy

In some ways, Sonic Shock could be the younger brothers of Nashville Pussy. Hurling guitar solos with reckless abandon as seen in songs like Gimme Yer Love, which has the repetitive chorus ensuring even the drunkest fucker in the bar can sing along.

The production quality on this record isn't top notch, studio work, but that is the point. If this album felt polished and clean, it wouldn't be Sonic Shock

Sonic Shock is not a pretty, polished band. They are a down and gritty rock n' roll band soaked in pussy juice, liquor, and delicious man sweat. If that is something that appeals to you, Sonic Shock is your band. If you are looking for a polished turd, well Sick Puppies is out there for you.
