Former Alice in Chains Bassist Arrested...AGAIN
Former Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr is about to die. The guy can't seem to stop his terrible downward spiral. During a routine traffic stop in Salt Lake City. The officers searched Starr and his vehicle and arrested him after finding six Xanax and six Opana pills in a bottle with the name scratched off. But not before he tried to pull the celebrity card:
"[Mike] stated 'Hey officer, have you heard of Alice in Chains? I used to be the base [sic] guitarist for them. We are down here in Utah. Me and Travis are putting together a new band.'"
Yea, apparently the arresting officer in Salt Lake City couldn't spell bass. It is ok, no expected much from the police in Salt Lake City anyway. However, props for getting the best source of information....he is in a new band with junkie Travis Meeks in a new version of Days of the New. There is so much drug fail in that band. They will never show up for performances, act like true rockstars though they only had one good song (Meeks) and rode the coattails of others (Starr).
Starr is being held on $20,000 bail and has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Starr's situation is not different than other junkies, but I feel more sorry for him. He feels that Layne would have been around today if it weren't for him. What Starr fails to see is that Layne was a junkie destined to over dose with or without Starr's help. His depression over losing Layne forced him even deeper into drug abuse. He is so deep, I am not sure he can stop. I hope he can, but he has been on the show Celebrity Rehab three times and that hasn't helped.
