Gary Moore Dies Today
Legendary blues guitarist Gary Moore has died today. I am usually not up on breaking news, but this caught me as I was planning on posting an unrelated story. You may not know who Gary Moore is, but he was an excellent soulful blues guitarist who influenced many guitarists like Kirk Hammett, Joe Bonamassa, and Randy Rhoads.
Thin Lizzy fans will remember Moore's work on Thin Lizzy's Black Rose: A Rock Legend album. It is one of my favorite Thin Lizzy records for Róisín Dubh alone, which was written by Moore and Phil Lynott.
This album had another classic Thin Lizzy song called Waiting on an Alibi, which features Moore on guitar but was not written by him. The video below also has the rare and elusive Dougie Wright's (The Dirty Pearls bassist) long lost father on rhythm guitar.
The world lost an amazing guitarist today, so raise your whiskey in a jar for Moore, he deserves it.
