The White Stripes Break Up

I have bad news for you White Stripes fan, the band has broken up. I don't ever want to say "for good," but with bigger and better things on Jack White's horizon, I doubt he will be back. If you are looking for a silver lining, this will give Meg White time to learn how to fucking drum.

The White Stripes are one of those bands I appreciated the guitar work laid down by Jack White, but holy shit after a while it was like prison rape. The same drum sound and Jack's voice can be grating after one or two songs.

The band released this statement:

"The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health," a statement announced. "It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way."

I can respect that sentiment. What else do they have to do but rehash the same simple cords and same metronome drum beat? The one to worry about is Meg White, she doesn't have the same upside that Jack White does. He is an actor (hilarious in Dewey Cox, Cold Mountain), multiple great bands (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs), great collaborations (Lorretta Lynn) and great stage guests (Shine a Light Rolling Stones). Meg White has...boobs.

I am going to embed my favorite clip of Jack White with the Rolling Stones performing Loving Cup.
