Wildstreet's Wildstreet II Louder Faster EP Review

Wildstreet Faster LouderI got an email before the holidays that simply said:

"Hey Craig, you know that bluesy Glam sound you have been looking for? Well check these guys out."

That man knew my penchant for all things 80's, he appealed to my Back to the Future side and he certainly knew my musical leanings so I had to check out Wildstreet's second EP entitled Wildstreet II: ...Louder ...Faster. The cover with their '34 Chevy rat rod had me sucked in immediately, but what kind of 80's sound was I going to get judging solely on the cover?

This quick five song EP brings you the best of the 80s and leaves out all the bad shit like AIDS and the Berlin Wall, and for politicos like Ben Sommer, Ronald Reagan. All you get is sing along choruses like Def Leppard, a rhythm section as tight as AC/DC, and enough Motley Crue to help you get your red wings.

The song Poison Kiss sounds so damn familiar to me upon first listen I tried to sing along with it. Of course I only attempted to rhyme key words since I didn't really know the lyrics. Poison Kiss describes my daily routine "Wake up wake up when the sun's down. Get up Get up it's time to come out." The build up to the bombast in this song had me quickly fist pumping like the non-guido I am and wishing I had some fake Snooki bend over in front of me grinding. The song just has that kind of vibe about it, exuding raw sexual emotion on the cusp of chaos. It's stupendous.

Cocked and Ready has a great head bobbing beat laid down by Brian Beck with Ali Hassan adding the bass in your face. But the star for me is the guitars and vocals which are all Eric Jayk's realm of expertise. The blues soaked licks are so typical of the best 80s sound. If I could have sex with those riffs and solos I would awkwardly thrust on top of them for no less than 2 minutes.

You ever think, if I could go back in time I would do things better? Wildsteet's WildstreetII: ...Louder ...Faster is an amazing EP that showcases they get it. There was some terrible schlock in the 80's, but you will not find any of that in Wildstreet's EP. This is a hard-hitting, efficient EP that has made me a fan for life. If you give it the full five songs, you will become a fan for life too. But I will bet you will only need two songs.

Wildstreet will release Wildstreet II: ...Louder ...Faster on January 25. You will be able to get it on iTunes, Amazon, etc, but check their main site for full EP details. In the meantime, check out their Promo video for Cocked and Ready. I defy you to listen to the song below and maintain a seated position. I think it is impossible.
