A Year in Music Review...Not Our Review
Tis the time of the year when lazy journalists, like myself, turn toward sales and top grossing whatevers to post about. The good news about these top lists is they are a quick snap shot of your peers and what they are buying throughout the year. So here goes:
Top Grossing Digital Single (according to Apple):
Train's Hey Soul Sister sold 4.8 million sales. The single got a big push from a few commercials that featured it and a few TV promos that used it. But 4.8 million downloads is crazy for this god awful song. I would rather watch a man shove a broken mason jar into his ass than listen to that screech falsetto on Train's Dominick Monahan. The little hobbit is annoying and his whole stage presence bothers me. But Merry gets a pass from me since he got to ride around with the hotness of Eowin.
Top Grossing Tour
Bon Jovi grossed over 145 million dollars. Someone is still paying to see Bon Jovi? You could see a cover band cover Bon Jovi better than Bon Jovi covers Bon Jovi. This won't last since U2 is planning a major tour of the United States and their ticket prices are going for over 200 a piece in stadiums.
Top Selling Album of 2010
Nickelback's Dark Horse...FAIL...just FAIL. This album has been out for two years. TWO YEARS! Still it grosses more than any other album released this year. I know one person who has bought this album and he also likes Metallica after Master of Puppets. I know that is not a coincidence. I guess the only I can blame now are parents since GOOD parenting would have yielded children who listen to better music.
