Black Tide Enter Studio for Sophmore Effort
Black Tide broke onto the music scene in a big way in 2008 with their
fist-pumping, fret-burning, fast-paced metallic anthems on their
Interscope
Records debut Light From Above. Now the Florida based quartet is
at Spin
Studios in New York recording their follow-up with producers GGGarth
(Rage
Against The Machine, Rise Against) and Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God). The
as-yet-untitled sophomore set will be released fall 2010!
These kids aren't bad. They draw heavily on their influences, so much so I don't think they are interesting. They are very generic and if they weren't 12-14 years old, you probably wouldn't be hearing about them. You can find this kind of music in any bar on a Friday/Saturday night in your town...unless you live in Delaware (the cover band capital of the United States).
There are flashes of brilliance in these kids, but I would like to see them step out of their comfort zone a bit...not rely so heavily on their heroes and come up with something unique. They did set the bar high with their first album though.
