The Faces Reunite Without Rod Stewart

One of my favorite groups from the 70's was The Faces. The band consisted of Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones. They have reunited....kind of.

Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan, and Kenney Jones have reunited with Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols replacing Ronnie Lane, who died in 97 and Mick Hucknall of Simply Red replacing Rod Stewart.

Speaking to BBC News, Wood said that the Simply Red vocalist had "that electricity in his voice" and when they started rehearsing it was "as if no time had gone by and we were the same outfit."

They also refused to rule out Stewart rejoining the band at some stage but Wood claims that they "haven't got time to hang around.

"Mick's singing is hot and we're ready to go ... the time is right," he continued. "He's normally a romantic ballady singer, but he really rocks, he can really sing those songs."

Ronnie Lane is almost irreplaceable, but I'll over look him because he is dead. But Rod Stewart is irreplaceable in this outfit and sans Stewart and to a lesser degree Lane, you really don't have The Faces. You kind of have a tribute band with three original members. But I can keep an open mind about things and will wait for the review of the Vintage at Goodwood festival in Sussex in August. The band will tour in 2011.

In the meantime, let's remember the good times when The Faces fucked everything that moved and drank everything not tied down.
