Pink Floyd Reunionist - Give It A Rest

Can we finally stop clamoring for a Pink Floyd reunion? I am tired of retreads of news stories where either David Gilmour or Roger Waters talks about Pink Floyd not doing a reunion tour.

There are two camps: Gilmour broke up the band and won't get back together and Waters broke up the band and won't get back together.

I am in the Waters caused the breakup camp. Prior to Live 8, the proverbial olive branch was extended to Waters by Gilmour during the Division Bell tour where Dark Side of the Moon was performed in its entirety since like 75. Waters turned it down.

The second time was the 50th birthday of Gilmour and Waters again turned it down. Now that Rick Wright has passed, this tour is as dead as Syd. Yes, Waters extended an olive branch recently, but why now and not then? I am not that naive to think only one of these men is responsible for the breakup. The fact is they both can't get along long enough to do a tour.

There are two reasons retro acts tour or reunite.

1) Money
2) Something to prove

Think, do Waters or Gilmour need the money? Absolutely not. Do they have something to prove musically? Nope, I think they proved that with Dark Side or Animals. Though I confess to liking the more psychedelic pop Pink Floyd of the Syd Barrett days rather than the prog space rock of the later years.

I think this needs to be chalked up in the NEVER category. If you are jonsing for a Pink Floyd show you can see Roger Waters perform The Wall in its entirety. Just know it is without David Gilmour and the tickets are about 200 bucks. Or you can go on the cheap end and see The Australian Pink Floyd who sound just like Pink Floyd but with LASERS!!!!!!

The best way to hear Pink Floyd is by throwing on Wish You Were Here and turn it up real loud. The album will never let you down while it is possible a live show with Waters and Gilmour may not live up to your high standards.

You cheap bastards over in England couldn't find enough money to donate to the Hoping Foundation benefit in Oxfordshire. If you hadn't been saving your money for that Sybian, which will never be used by hot girls, you could have seen the onstage reunion of David Gilmour and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. A crowd of about 200, saw Gilmour and Waters get up on stage and play four songs, Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb, Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2, and To Know Him Is To Love Him (Phil Spector cover apparently done at ...

Amen - I'm a fan, one of many millions, but here's a suggestion that will save you money and be a whole of fun. See one of the many great PF tribute bands touring the western world. I saw one recently and it was amazing experience - Hell, they even played THREE - count 'em 3 - songs from "Animals". Or just see Waters on his next tour - he's really quite good w/a crack band. Pine for other things that are more likely to happen...
