Iggy Pop and The Stooges Talk Penetration From Raw Power Deluxe Edition
In anticipation of the April 27th release of
their Raw Power Deluxe Edition package, Iggy and the Stooges have
released a clip taken from the documentary "Search and Destroy: Iggy and
the
Stooges' Raw Power." The
clip talks about the creative process behind the classic track
"Penetration." Iggy recalls hearing the iconic riff for the first time:
"He [James] played me the riff to penetration.....and from that riff I was building fugues." Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr shares his recollection of hearing the song for the first time: "As a guitar riff it's brilliant, and the vocal is just mysterious, sort of like a message from an alluring underworld."
