Type O Negative's Peter Steele Dead
Peter Steele is dead...again...for real this time. Peter was the lead
singer of Type O Negative and recorded about seven studio albums with
Type O from like 1991-2007.
Steele died of heart failure yesterday at the young age of 48. The man was a heavy drug user back in the day (can't be sure if he was still doing drugs).
Peter and Type O Negative were Goths before the word GOTH became mainstream. There were kids in 7th-8th grade dressing like Type O Negative while I was wearing sweater vests and listening to New Kids on the Block. Ok, my sweater vest was mandatory because I went to Catholic school. The NKOTB was forced on me because the priest listened to it while fondling my genitals.
The some what hilarious part for these goths came in an interview Steele did in 2007 with Decibel Magazine.
“There are no atheists in foxholes, they say, and I was a foxhole atheist for a long time. But after going through a midlife crisis and having many things change very quickly, it made me realize my mortality. And when you start to think about death, you start to think about what’s after it. And then you start hoping there is a God. For me, it’s a frightening thought to go nowhere. I also can’t believe that people like Stalin and Hitler are gonna go to the same place as Mother Teresa.”
Well shit Goths, your hero became a Catholic. Catholics 1 Goths - 0.
Anyway, Peter Steele dead at age 48 and now he has to answer to Saint Peter and place his heart on a scale and have it weighed against a feather to see if he can pass the River Styx. I might be confusing my religions.
