Malcolm McLaren is best known for managing babysitting the Sex Pistols. The story goes, he had a retro clothing store in London. McLaren moved to New York City and was so inspired by the emerging punk scene there that he returned to London to sell anti-fashion clothing (rubberwear, glamourwear & stagewear). Basically they were one zipper away from a full on Gimp. He renamed his shop SEX and needed a band to wear his clothes and promote his brand; he needed models. Those models were The Sex Pistols. Wonder where the SEX in their name came from?

McLaren died of mesothelioma at the age of 64. His girlfriend, 37 years old, confirmed that he died in Switzerland and how he died. 64 and 37? Awesome, McLaren was player...or she wanted his money and he was a fool. Either way McLaren is dead and has left his indelible stamp on punk....the clothing.




I also forgot about McLaren's just dreadful music foray. Here was his "hit" Buffalo Gals. Warning, not for the Grandmaster Flash fans.
