Taking Dawn and Killswitch Engage Added to Gods of War 3 Soundtrack
Taking Dawn have been included on the soundtrack to the highly anticipated Gods of War 3 video game. The soundtrack (available March 2nd) will feature the unreleased Taking Dawn track This is Madness, as well as new and unreleased tracks from Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Dream Theater, Opeth, and Mutiny Within.

I think the first video game I remember with a popular band and a popular song was Twisted Metal's use of Rob Zombie's Meet the Creeper. I think it was Twisted Metal 3 that used that soundtrack. Before then, it was soundtracks with beeps, meeps, and 8-bit sounds.
I think video game soundtracks are important, Resident Evil wouldn't be so fucking scary if the music didn't creep me the hell out. But does a video game really need an unreleased song by a relatively no name band? I don't think so.
As a video game player (email me for gamertag information), I think compelling story, great gameplay, and a fun online mode, are important to my methodology to buy. I could fucking care less about the latest Killswitch Engage song in my Gods of War game.
The only time I will extend an exception is music based games. But those games make a point to have the latest and greatest songs by today's hottest bands. That is their model, so they should have a boisterous soundtrack with today's popular artists.
Would you still play Call of Duty Modern Warfare or Halo if the soundtrack included Sublime's What I Got?
So
while I brought you the news that Taking Dawn is on the new soundtrack
for Gods of War, I don't expect you to run out and cum all over the
soundtrack.
Here is our review of Taking Dawn's record. And here is a band called Powerglove who create metal songs out of Nintendo video game sounds:
