Wes Borland Says Haters Gonna Hate
Limp
Biscuit is getting close to unleashing the Dragon (to quote Sisqo) on
an unsuspecting public. I am warning you loyal readers, because you
need to prepare yourselves. You need to stock up on ear plugs, Rolling
Stones and Motorhead CDs, and hopefully some funions.
Guitar Edge's Elliott Politte conducted an interview with Limp Biscuit guitarist Wes Borland at the Yamaha booth at this year's NAMM show. Here is a quote about Limp's new album Gold Cobra:
"I think that everyone who hated Limp Biscuit before will continue to hate Limp Biscuit. It's not like we, all of a sudden, grew up and started making smarter music. It's definitely a fun, party kind of vibe. It's a little bit like the old stuff, but with a little bit of maybe a daft punk vibe thrown in on some of it. There's big, huge riffs and hopefully catchy lyrics."
I see the problem. It is Fred Durst. Wes Borland went out on his own and created a pretty good side project entitled Black Light Burns with Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle) on drums. It was way better than anything Limp Biscuit ever released, which I admit isn't saying much.
Wes has shown he is better than the music put forward in Limp Biscuit, but I have yet to see Fred do anything of note or merit. I hope that the Limp Biscuit reunion is a cash grab for Wes so he can pour more money back into Black Light Burns. If not, the Gold Cobra might be this years Punxsutawney Phil. If Gold Cobra sees the light of day, it means six more months of Limp Biscuit.
