Metallica Breaks Attendance Record In Peru

On January 20th Metallica played their first gig of 2010 in Peru. They set a new Peruvian attendance record when 55,000 fans cramed into a stadium in Lima. The entire show grossed around 3.7 million in U.S. dollars.  This was the first of many shows in South America. They will also hit Panama, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.

That isn't the only record Metallica has broke lately. Ealier this month It was released that Metallica has offially taken the number one spot of the top selling album of the soundscan era. The self-titled fifth album (also known as "the black album) surpassed Shania Twain's 1997 record, Come on Over. Nielson Soundscan began tracking album sales in May 1991.
