Journey Has Principles...Who Knew?

Journey who have licensed their music to Ford, The Sopranos, and the cast of Fox's Glee, have finally said NO. Simon Cowell approached Journey's management so X-Factor winner Joe McElderry could record Don't Stop Believin as a single.

Journey guitarist Neal Schon told The Sun: "We knew about Joe's song because Simon had contacted our management as he wanted to re-do the song with a different kind of arrangement.

"We listened to it and we declined. We said there was nothing wrong with the original version. If it's not busted, let's not fix it."

What could be different from the a cappella version of Don't Stop Believin and a poppy radio hit version of Don't Stop Believin as sung by an X-Factor winner? Beats the hell out of me, but I suppose you do need principles....even if those principles are an enigma to the rest of the world.

George Lamond redid that song; I guess that means he did it without Journey's consent?

I smell a rat. I think Neil and company were tired of having to give Steve Perry any more money for being the incommunicado douchebag that he is.

I think I agree with Seano. When you license your music for dance versions, Glee, and Spongebob Square pants, but you turn down an X-Factor contestant....there is more to the story.

Maybe it is to screw ol Perry over.
