John Frusciante Leaves the Red Hot Chili Pepers...Again
Artsy Fartsy, guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante, has left the band. This marks the second time John leaves the band to pursue his own ambitions.
In a MySpace posting, you know the location where ALL band resignations are made, Frusciante said:
"When I quit the band, over a year ago, we were on an indefinite hiatus. There was no drama or anger involved, and the other guys were very understanding. They are supportive of my doing whatever makes me happy and that goes both ways."
John joined the band in 1988 and left RHCP back in 92. RHCP decided to carry on with a transgendered spider monkey (Dave Navarro) on guitar for the recording of One Hot Minute, an album not really up to the previous standards of the Peppers. John has played on all the radio hits and most commercially successful albums. I would contend he has given them their signature guitar sound.
But he wanted to go on an pursue other projects (like his solo efforts) and he should do that. I only shudder to think the spider monkey might return to the band to recreate a Jane's Addiction anally rapes Chili Peppers sound. This is more disconcerting when you find out Dave really isn't doing much.
