The Blogs N' Roses Year End Best
We
try and do a year end list that ranks the best albums (record company
released) and independently released. But it is too much of a hassle to
keep track of all the great music we have reviewed over the year. The
time involved in generating a list of record company released music is
annoying, tedious, and boring...for me. I much enjoy heralding those
who need to be heralded.
The independently released music is our bread and butter. We enjoy introducing you to hard working musicians who get "it." They understand that good rock music doesn't have to be music where you sell your soul for a buck now and kill your art later.
These musicians understand what it is to give their nights to empty bars, herpes addled whores, and sucking dick for their muse (heroin/cocaine). They make music to please themselves, and their fans, but mostly themselves. They are what the music business SHOULD be about. Instead it is about sucking the corporate shriveled penis of some executive out of touch with reality and the music industry in general.
Our classification for our "Year's Best" is simple. You just need to have sent us your EP for review in the November of 2008-November of 2009. If you did this, well then your band was considered, but you sucked -Electric Blondes.
We also try and add a unique take on each review. None of this stiff, created in a cubicle, review. I try and make them as unique as each EP is. All tales are true and what actually happened while listening to each album/EP.
Some are long winded and self aggrandizing, others are admittedly too short. We hope you find them interesting, but more importantly curious as to what the band sounds like. We want you to go and support these bands not because we said so, but because they are actually great bands.
My take, while my own, isn't too far off from the actual listening experience. With any of these bands, you will get laid. It just might be with your hand.
8. Black Diamond Jaguars
What do you get when you cross Iggy Pop and the Stooges with the arena sized riffs of Motley Crue? What if that resultant was raped by a Jaguar? That progeny would be called Black Diamond Jaguars.
Rambunctious riffs, lo-fi vocals, sleazy women, what more could you want in a band. Check out our official review of the album here.

7. Razorblade Skin
Combine shock rocker Alice Cooper with Wednesday 13 and the Muderdolls and you get this Philadelphia hybrid Razorblade Skin.
The album could use better production, (it's not loud enough) but Mikey Primadonna pours his own money and hardwork in this band. It is a great band both live and EP wise. Check out our review of their live show here.
6. SexMess
Fast, loud, bluesy guitars and an early era, take no prisoners, Guns N' Roses attitude. Give them a chance to fuck your girl. You will be better for it. You can read our review here.

5. Midnite Social
This is a fantastic album with the sexual gusto to back it up. Dirty, dangerous rock n' roll as rock n' roll should be. Check out the official review here.

4. The Nightmares
A shotgun of garage punk to your ears and dick. Great punk music with good vocals and guitar work behind it. Review here.

3. Darlings of Chelsea
New York Dolls inspired guitar work, Dave Grohl vocal stylings, and bombastic drum beats. A supergroup consisting of Toronto's finest gutter sleaze only adds to the credibility and stage show. Review here.

1b. Diemonds
I can't decide which one is number one because on any given day, they are neck and neck. Diemonds is labeled as 1B only because their review was easier to pull up on the site.
A Guns N' Roses mentality embodied in a smoking hot front woman, all add to the mystique of this band. They take no prisoners and have the total package to be something bigger. The band is currently touring India. Since this website is in the Top 100 of Pakistan (I am serious), I can't endorse their trip to India right now. But their EP still kicks ass. Review

1a. Voodoo Johnson
My craziest and all but too true review of this band only scratches the surface of their talent. This band has the total package too, quality rock roots, talent, and power rock anthems that could rule the airwaves in the States if given the chance. It is not your Nickelback bullshit rock that is ruling the airwaves now. Voodoo Johnson is a band you can be proud to wear their shirt, sticker, and fuck to their music. Review

If you think your band has what it takes to be 2010's Year's Best, email us. We are always looking for quality undiscovered bands. We won't guarantee your band will be seen by record executives in the States, but most of the computer using Pakistanis will love your shit.
