Get Your Joan Jett Barbie Dolls Here

Mattel, makers of women self-esteem killing dolls since 1959, will launch the Ladies of the 80's dolls. Who are the ladies of the 80's? Mattel says they are Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper, and Debbie Harry. I guess the Madonna image was too expensive to purchase.

I didn't know Cyndi Lauper was that skinny back in the 80's. Anyway, I don't really have a problem with these three choices because they did speak up for women's rights and showed that women could rock n' roll just like their male counterparts. But I think a better self-esteem booster would have been Wendy O. Williams.

I can just see the accessories for Ms. Williams. Grinder, steel breast plates, and crotchless panties. It would be a perfect compliment with the Lemmy doll you bought.

I showed these dolls to a coworker who was pissed Joan Jett would sell her image. I remember an interview with a local DJ where she said something to the effect of "Over the years no one has ever come up to me and thanked me for not selling out." She then explained how much money she missed out on for not selling the song I love Rock N' Roll. She has a valid point. People only start complaining AFTER you sell out. Good on ya, Joan. You still kick ass! I only wish these were blow up dolls of the girls.
