Stone Temple Pilots Cancel Show
Stone Temple Pilots recently canceled a date in Canadia.
"We had some inklings of it Friday, but didn't want to say anything at all to anyone until we had it confirmed in writing," Jane Cada-Sharp, Crystal Centre general manager, told Daily Herald-Tribune.
Is this a sign of trouble in the STP camp? We received an email proclaiming "Scott is back on the smack. STP canceled a gig."
This dumbass writer (me) doesn't think so. It is flu season, swine flu is devastating pigs across North America, and performers are allowed to have various days where they just don't feel well. That is what I thought before looking into the story. Then I found the reason for the gig cancellation was "scheduling conflict."
That seems a bit odd to me since a lot of these gigs are planned months in advance. But the article I linked to above had the following butt hurt comments from Crystal Centre's general manager.
This is unfortunately kind of a fact of life in our business, and we're very fortunate it rarely happens (here). But it did, so right now we're doing our best to ensure that anyone who did purchase a ticket can get their refund as easily as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anybody ... here's hoping that the next one down the road will definitely have a better outcome.
Boo hoo, a band canceled a gig due to various reasons. Artists get sick, they get double booked, they have 25 different handlers and are pulled in 1,000 different directions. I don't believe for one second that STP wanted to cancel this gig if they didn't have to. What band wants to let their fans down? I'll answer that...NONE. Be glad Ms. Cada-Sharp, you didn't book Aerosmith.
