Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe 2 Last Album for Geffen

The Pulse of Radio reports: Rob Zombie fans were greeted over the weekend with the disappointing news that Zombie's fourth solo album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool", had been bumped from a November 17 arrival to an undetermined 2010 release date. The news followed recent comments by Zombie indicating that he expected the set to be his last traditional CD.

As for what form his music will take in the future, Zombie told The Pulse of Radio that he's not sure what that will be. "We're already trying to figure it out, 'cause this is the last record that I owe Geffen," he said. "My contract is up. Whether or not I re-sign, we haven't had that conversation, but this is the last record I'm obligated to make. I mean, I've been on the label now for like 19 years. So I don't know. I mean, it is almost becoming like you're not sure — how will people get music a year from now?"

Well the obvious answer is — they will steal it. But an artist with the publicity he has and world reaching ties, I think he could put an album out by himself and still do moderately well. I bet he could sell it on iTunes or his MySpace and people will buy it. I know I would. Several unsigned bands do ok with just selling albums on their Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, whatever. Zombie has a million followers on Twitter. I am sure if even 1/3 of those buy the album, he will be successful.

I wouldn't look at leaving the record company as a negative, but a positive to reap his own rewards. But what the fuck do I know about the music business?
