KISS, Red Hot Chili Peppers Lead Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. It exists in a place no one want to travel to, Cleveland. Shit, the induction ceremony was held in New York City and not even at the hall until last year.
It is mostly a giant fucking corporate circle jerk, with editors and Jann Wenner cumming all over one another to nominate the dumbest artists just to get people talking. It works sure, but at the loss of credibility. But we all know Rolling Stone lost credibility back in '70.
This years crop consists of Red Hot Chili Peppers, KISS, LL Cool J, and Genesis. Also on the ballot ABBA, Donna Summer, and The Stooges. Let's take a second and look at these nominees.
KISS can barely play their own instruments and are a gimmick band. Ask any drummer if Peter Criss influenced them. I bet he didn't because he barely competent behind the skins. I love KISS and yes, they sold a shit load of albums, but they should go into the Marketing Hall of Fame more than the rock n' roll.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - no quarrels there. Fused funk, pop, rock into a great matchup. It was fresh in the early 80's as it is now.
LL Cool J - This is the ROCK N' ROLL hall of fame right? I know rock has it's roots in R&B, gospel, and soul, but LL Cool J doesn't have the right to be in the ROCK N' ROLL hall of fame.
Donna Summer - The Supremes were awesome. But Donna can not be forgiven for her disco era stuff. Disco is not rock n' roll and thus she has no business in the hall.
ABBA - If this was the Pop Hall of Fame, ok. It's not and thus they have no right to be in there or even nominated.
Genesis - leader in prog rock, had staying power after Peter Gabriel left, deserve to be in the hall.
The Stooges - ABSOLUTELY! No one is more rock n' roll than Iggy Pop. He embodies the whole attitude, style, and music of rock n' roll. The Stooges created some of the 70's most dangerous brand of punk all while battling drug demons. If the Stooges are not in the hall, you need the name revoked.
Notable artists not in the hall:
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
T-Rex
Thin Lizzy
Motley Crue
Motorhead
Tom Waitts
The Runaways
Those are just the names that come off the top of my head. I will not support this fucking sham of a museum. The Sex Pistols had the best response to the Rock Hall.
