Ozzy Replaces Zakk Wylde

I guess it is officially over between Zakk Wylde and the Ozzman. We reported here that Ozzy was looking for another guitarist to replace Zakk. Ozzy was unhappy that his music was starting to sound like Black Label Society and not Ozzy.

I have to agree with Ozzy on that one. There is too much pinch guitar work in the new Ozzy stuff, which is a Zakk Wylde signature. He does it ad nauseum. But he is still an excellent song writer, talented musician, and a dear friend to Ozzy. I just couldn't see Ozzy moving in a different direction, but understood it.

I thought that Zakk would make it to BlizzCon, which is this weekend. BlizzCon is the World of Warcraft annual convention where Ozzy is expected to play because he is a playable character in the new World Of Warcraft game Rise of the Something or Other King.

I was wrong in thinking that because Ozzy Osbourne has officially replaced Zakk with Gus G. of Firewind. Gus G. has also played with Arch Enemy, Mystic Prophesy, and Nightrage, in case you were wondering.

But now, who is going to be Ozzy's drummer at this gig? His long time drummer Mike Bordin is with his original band Faith No More. Will Bordin fly in and do the drumming duties? Will Ozzy hire another drummer? Jimmy Chamberlain is available; maybe Ozzy can give him a call.

No kidding about overuse of pinch harmonics. My guitar teacher was showing me and I said "oh, like what Zakk Wylde does all the time"
