Motley Crue Crue Fest 2 Setlist 7.19.2009

Crue Fest 2 kicked off in Camden yesterday (July 19, 2009) and the Crue were less than stellar. Read our full coverage of the event here. Here was their Dr. Feelgood setlist:

Dr. Feelgood
Slice of Your Pie
Rattlesnake Shake
Kickstart My Heart
Without You
Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S)
Sticky Sweet
She Goes Down
Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)
Time for Change
Mick Mars Guitar Solo
Wild Side
Saints of Los Angeles
Live Wire
Shout At the Devil

Encore

Home Sweet Home
Girls, Girls, Girls

The general consensus on this show was the Crue were just bad. Some chalked it up to it being the first night, others said Godsmack was just infinitely better and the Crue had no choice but to suck. I have seen Godsmack and they are one of the few bands in rock right now who put on a great performance every time. Whether you like their music or not, they are just great live.

I saw the Crue twice, once on their comeback Carnival of Sins tour and again on the Red White and Crue tour. Both times they were good and played exactly what I wanted to hear. I am an older Crue fan, leaning more toward their first three albums. I think the Dr. Feelgood album is ok, but there are a lot of filler songs on there. This is a problem when you decide to play the entire. It would be one thing if you are Pink Floyd and want to play Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. That album has great songs through and through, but Dr. Feelgood is no Dark Side and it's not even their best album.

So you have your fourth best album being played in its entirety and you have a much younger and hungrier band playing before you. This isn't going to be the best tour for the Crue.

I'm a 19 year old Crue fan, and i agree, they are only playing it because its the one they are famous for, you ask people on the streets do you know who motley crue is they'll deffinatly mention "dr. feelgood" unless they just don't listen to good music... but they play the same mother fucking songs look at the rest of the set!!! "Wild side" "Live wire" "Shout" "SOLA" "Home sweet home" and "Girls" WTF!!! THEY'VE PLAYED THEM EVERYTIME SINCE C.o.S.(except SOLA obviously) why do they play the singles all the time... i want Merry go round, danger, bastard, thats what their problem is. so i guess i'm glad they're playing filler instead of things i've heard the other 9 times i saw them...

Those are the songs that sell the albums to those newer generation fans. Older fans may not like it, but it's all about selling the product. Be glad you can still see them, they are the only band of the 80's still around.

I'm a 42 yr old Motley Crue fan (yes, I'm old, but I have an MBA and am an executive, so the fan base is wide). Anyhow, I have been to ~8-9 MC concerts and my biggest complain echos James': why do they play the same songs every time? My other complaint is Vince's singing...he tends to leave off the first words of each sentence, as if he's just being lazy and not really singing, more like reciting.

In the Heroin Diaries, Nikki complains about playing the same songs night after night.

crue fest ended 8/5/09 and for this 41 year old crue fan, it went down as a total joke, terrible! mars couldn't keep up, someone was so discusted, they chucked a water bottle at vince, hitting him in the face. I not really knowing godsmack, was blown away by there performance, crowd went wild. Darien center was to its crowd capacity and thank god for godsmack or I'm sure there would have been a bad situation with crue showing there age. mars stay home next time, vince warm up before a show.
