Twisted Sister Stay Hungry 25th Anniversary Deluxe Album Review

Twisted Sister Stay HungryBefore Dee Snider had to lay the smackdown on Tipper Gore and the PMRC wearing the tightest, bulge showcasing, jeans Congress has ever seen, he fronted Twisted Sister. Twisted Sister released one of the best records EVER in Stay Hungry.

I recently moved my Stay Hungry cd to my iPod. It was on my iPod that I realized how crappy the original recording sounds. Then I got the news that Rhino and Twisted Sister were going to remaster the original album and add a second album of demos and previously unreleased tracks. SCORE!

I am not going to bother to review a classic album like Stay Hungry. There are thousands of reviews out there for that album. I will just say the songs sound great remastered. Now I won't feel embarrassed to rock out to S.M.F at the traffic lights due to the poor sounding recording.

If you are a casual fan of Twisted Sister or a nerd of rock n' roll, the second disc is a treasure trove of gems and Twisted Sister prizes. It is like Christmas for you. The early demos allow you to hear what they changed for the final version, sometimes for the better...sometimes for the worse. But the beauty is, you can judge for yourself based upon the early demos and the final version. This is where your rock n' roll nerd hat comes in because you can try and figure out using the early demos how you would change the songs.

Then you get some just classic Twisted Sister songs like Death From Above, Prime Motivator, and This One's For You. Each song characterized by that classic Twisted Sister sound and just as iconic as the ones that made Stay Hungry.

I have listened to disc two way more than the Stay Hungry remastered version. This could be more because I have heard Stay Hungry countless times before and these other songs are like new Twisted Sister songs. If you don't have Stay Hungry, this is the version to buy. If you have Stay Hungry, this will help your old album sound infinitely better and give you bonus material that kicks just as much ass as the original Stay Hungry.
