After Midnight Project's Let's Build Something to Break Album Review
It is no secret, when you are a pop-punk or alternative rock band we have a specific rating system for you. It is called the Blogs N' Roses Kid Sister system. This system is simple. Our sister, Courtney Wettner, loves pop punk and alternative rock for the catchy hooks, the deep falsettos, and the introspective front men that she thinks she can change and mold into the perfect man. All three must be present to get placed into this rating system. At the end of the rating, we have to determine if we would allow the band to date Courtney. Simple right? Up next is After Midnight Project rolling into our sister's bedroom from Los Angeles. (KID SISTER ALERT 1) California, the land of hopes, dreams, and porn companies. The band has been around since 2004, but hasn't really hit our ears until Let's Build Something to Break landed on our doorstep.
This album is an exercise in powerful hooks, damn catchy falsettos, songs rising to a climax, and perfectly timed song breakdowns. (KID SISTER ALERT 2) All these things combine to create an impeccable record for casual, mainstream music listeners. But that won't be enough for us to hand over our sister Courtney.
Let's Build Something to Break begins with Backlit. A song that starts out with an restrained bombast that yields way to a timed breakdown to showcase Jason Evigan's vocals. Some singers get carried away with screaming when they try to get a deep message across. Not Jason, he has precise control over his voice and over every song on the album. The message is never lost through unheard screaming or loss of control. (KID SISTER ALERT 3)
Each song on Let's Build Something to Break is well crafted. After Midnight Project knows how to write a catchy song that sticks with you for a long time. (KID SISTER ALERT 4) I woke up singing the single Take Me Home several days while attempting to write this review. Speaking of Take Me Home, that song is tailor made for the radio right now. This is going to blow up any alternative radio station once and if it is added. I am surprised it isn't on Top 40 or any Hits radio stations now.
The album is fast paced and up beat (music wise) until about the halfway point. After Midnight Project slows things down with the ballad Gone Too Long. The song is a tearful, heartfelt song about being away so long the person doesn't notice small things anymore. (KID SISTER ALERT 5) I think anyone can relate to these lyrics. I know I can, my favorite hooker was incarcerated for a long time and I couldn't determine which meth scratches were ones I witnessed or ones she got in the pokey. I thought of Carmellotta from Fourth street.
I first thought the song, Gone Too Long really broke up the fast paced album and didn't like it. I was naive because it is well-placed and one of the best songs on the album.
Let's Build Something to Break showcases stupendous pop guitar work, thanks to Spencer Bastian and Christian Meadows. (KID SISTER ALERT 6) The bass (TJ Armstrong) and drums (Danny Morris) underline each song and drive the beat and help the guitars and vocals create a memorable song that sticks with you.
Let's Build Something to Break is a perfect album to unleash to the masses. It has something for everyone: hooks, memorable/meaningful lyrics, and a juggernaut of a live show. (KID SISTER ALERT 7) After Midnight Project is a band to watch out for. They are going places and you should be there to see them skyrocket to fame. You at the very least should know who they are so when the members knock on your door for your sister, you at least have heard their music.
Check out their MySpace for tour dates.

Did you write this review in 5 minutes? You hardly say anything constructive and just point out the obvious. Especially when you say,
"The bass (TJ Armstrong) and drums (Danny Morris) underline each song and drive the beat"
Really? In that case I'm glad I read this review, for the longest time I thought drums were melodic! Oh good Heavens!
If you're gonna write a review at least say one thing that isn't visible to the naked eye (or ear). Overall, this review sounds like you didn't really listen to the CD and you're just a friend of theirs and want them to get good publicity.
Dj Killa, What are you expecting? This band is amazing. And when I say this, there are no words to describe how great they are. I am no friend, I am a person who enjoys listening to music such as you.
Pop punk (also known as punk pop and other names) is a fusion genre that combines elements of punk rock with pop music, to varying degrees. It combines pop melodies with speedy punk tempos, chord changes and loud guitars.
Some of the best advice comes from this website. From a new blogger/website prospective and my knowledge of SEO this approach is probably the best. For the more experiences webmasters posting on nofollow websites could be more beneficial. My guess is we probably need both, but the technique in the article should work well for start me out my site. Lord knows, I still have tons to learn.
Ok, I want this now. I hear the sequel is out in Japan. I hope this sells enough so that they bring it over, too.
