Live Nation is Trying Everything for your Business
Live Nation is trying a bunch of shit to gain your affection this summer. They were the first major ticketing agent to do Four Packs for a bunch of summer concerts, do away with convenience charges on Wednesday, and now they are doing an all in one ticket charge. This all in one ticket charge includes a lawn ticket, a hot dog and soda, and convenience charges for $29.99. This offer is only good for today and only good for select artists. Those artists are below.
311 | The Allman Brothers Band | Blazed & Confused Tour ft. Slightly Stoopid & Snoop Dogg | blink-182 | Brad Paisley | Coldplay | Crosby Stills & Nash | Crue Fest 2 | Depeche Mode | Incubus | Kid Rock & Lynyrd Skynyrd | The Killers | Nickelback | No Doubt | REO Speedwagon & Styx | Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival ft. Marilyn Manson & Slayer
While it is admirable that Live Nation is trying everything to get your business, I don't find it to be enough. Some are going to scoff, "well you can't please everyone, but at least they are trying." I contend, they are not really trying. Let's examine this all for one "deal."
A normal lawn ticket for Nickelback is 27.75 + 15.00 in convenience fees + parking (15.00) 57.75 to see Nickelback on the lawn. The hot dogs at the Susquehanna Bank Center are 4.00, but that is overcharged. A soda is about 6.00 again overcharged. You will spend approximately an hour shitting in the bathrooms from the non-kosher pigeon hot dogs they serve you. So let's do the math on that.
27.75 + 15.00 (Parking) + 15.00 (fees) + 4.00 + 6.00 = price of 67.75. Now let's take a look at the math for the savings.
67.75 - 4.00 - 6.00 - 15 (fees) = 42.75. You get this deal for 29.99. Overall, you save 12.00 if you were to eat there. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but your savings might pay for your 15.00 parking.
I think it is a cheap ploy for you business, but I also think it is better than what Ticketmaster is doing to get your business - hide all the charges, nail you at the end, and say take it dipshit. You don't have much of a choice either, it's either pay the bastards what they want, or don't go to the show. I guess Live Nation at this point is the lesser of two evils. At least they are trying.
