Lollapalooza Schedule Released
Lollapalooza has released their schedule. You can view it here. But the problem is a lot of bands are scheduled for the same time as other bands. Don't worry, we will help you decide which bands to see.
Friday is a wash, but highlights are sure to include Ben Folds at 4-5 and The Decemberists at 6-7. Your big schedule conflict will come at 8-10. That is when Kings of Leon and The Depeche Mode will play at the same time. This is a tough choice, but I would choose The Depeche Mode only because Kings of Leon will be around much longer and your chances at seeing them is better than The Depeche Mode.
Saturday is a tough day with many great bands performing at the same time. Your first conflict comes at 4:30-5:30 with Coheed and Cambria and Artic Monkeys. This is mood dependant. If you want sweeping ballads about space and the final frontier...head over to Coheed and Cambria. They have gotten better in the last couple of years, but they were boring live when I saw them. My vote goes to Artic Monkeys.
On Saturday at 6:30-7:30 will pose another condundrum: Rise Against vs. TV on the Radio. Go see Rise Against. TV on the Radio is interesting, mostly computer and electronica, but some of their stuff is going to put you to sleep. You have to be in the mood for them. So go see Rise Against, you will enjoy them.
The Saturday 8-10 matchup pits The Beastie Boys vs Tool. You have no choice, but to see Tool. They are going to rock harder, entertain more, and visually stun you. The Beastie Boys generally go with a minimalistic stage, DJ booth in the middle and the three of them walking around rapping. They are a good live show, but no way near the size of Tool.
On Sunday at 2:30-3:30 you have to decide between The Kaiser Chiefs and The Airborne Toxic Event. Tough matchup. Each band is going to deliver and I would judge this by which act you can get closer to the stage. Make sure you catch Cold War Kids at 5:30-6:30 and Snoop Dogg at 6:30-7:30.
Another tough matchup comes at 7:30-8:30 with the Silversun Pickups and Band of Horses. But you should check out Silversun Pickups. They are my current favorite band and will rock live. The final spot is 8:30-10 between Jane's Addiction vs The Killers. This would be a tougher matchup had I not just seen Jane's Addiction suck live. Go see The Killers who have NEVER disappointed live.
