Chickenfoot Album Review
This review has stumped me. Normally I like to listen to an album
before seeing the band live because the live experience enhances the
album experience. The songs in a live setting come alive and the band
has a tendency to make me enjoy the songs more. With Chickenfoot, I had to see the band before listening to the album. Check out our review here. When I got the album, I loved the songs, but now I am not sure if it is because they ruled live or the songs are actually really good.
What the album has been able to do is allow me to hear the subtleties I missed when watching Joe Satriani play live. All the little notes and mind numbing and ear blistering solos he is able to produce. The album brings these to the forefront allowing the casual listener get the appreciation of Joe's stunning ability.
What I also missed live was Michael Anthony's backing vocals. I was too far to the left of the stage to get the vocals from Anthony. I heard him occasionally and he sounded great, but on the album there are a lot more harmonies with Hagar. On the album, you get a good nostalgic feeling of the Van Hagar's vocals that helped them top the charts in the 90's. Most notably you can hear this on Soap on a Rope. The harmonies on the chorus smack you in the face like a cock tattooed with Van Hagar.
Chickenfoot's album is the quintessential driving album. Fast paced, sleek, and sexy. I know you. You are driving down an interstate with the windows rolled down and you get off the freeway and come to a light. Your music blaring, your head banging. Next to you sits a hot busty blond in a convertible. She looks over you with her Slestak glasses and you are playing Creed's With Arms Wide Open. She laughs and drives away.
Now replay that scenario with Chickenfoot's Sexy Little Thing, a middle eastern feeling rock song about women. The chorus has a great sing along portion and sweet lyrics. I'll bet that blond mouths to you "Let me suck you." If she doesn't follow her home and stick it in her pooper.
Chickenfoot's album is just a carefree, fun album that I really haven't heard in a long time. There is a lot to appreciate on the record. The music, the playing of Joe Satriani, the power drumming of
I think, you, as a rock fan owe it to yourself to give the songs a listen. I bet you will pick up more than one song you love on the album. Then when the band does a full tour in the late summer, go and check them out. They will be worth every penny you have to pay.

Thanks for the review, this is one of my favourite albums. I disagree though, Imo its better to listen it live first. Or better screw the record, just listen yto it live!
