Joe Elliot has Lost It

Joe Elliot is living in a fantasy world. In this fantasy world, Def Leppard is the supreme chancellor of awesome and overall Vassals of Vagina. In reality, where the rest of live, Def Leppard hasn't been relevant since 1987's Hysteria and I am the only Vassal of Vagina this side of the Atlantic.

Elliott recently spoke to ThisIsNottingham.co.uk about the band's appearance at this year's Download festival, which is set to take place June 12-14 in the United Kingdom.

"Kudos to bands like us and Iron Maiden who've managed to avoid all that [breaking up]. Now the band [Faith No More who are performing at Download] are older and wiser, they'll probably say, 'I wish I'd done it differently' and I can't help having a wry smile 'cos we did things differently.

"We knew we were doing nothing wrong. Public perception just changes, but it always tends to change back if you have the patience to ride it out — now our ticket sales are the strongest they've been for 20 years."

That's odd because I just checked a few of their concerts on Live Nation and they had hundreds, if not thousands, of tickets remaining for every show I checked. Here is the Philly date (link). They are also very overvalued for the bill you are getting, Poison and Cheap Trick.

Elliot continued: "A lot of the 90s kids are disappointed. Name one rock band apart from Pearl Jam from the '90s that are still around. So fans are going back another generation to the likes of us, Bon Jovi and REM to see what the fuss was about and they're realizing it's not 'Dad rock,' it's just good rock."

Well Joe, I will take your challenge. Oasis, Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Godsmack, Rage Against the Machine, and Weezer. Then take a look at the bands that found most of their success in the 90, but formed in the 80's. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bad Religion, No Doubt, Green Day, Dinosaur Jr., The Black Crowes and The Offspring. These are just ones I found rolling through my iTunes and I didn't have to go to Wikipedia to confirm. I am sure there are others I am missing.

But yea Joe, no rock band except Pearl Jam is still around from the 90's. Keep up the delusion Joe. I guess that's better than the reality.
