Iggy Pop on the Possibility of an Iggy and The Stooges Reunion
I'm going need some extra attention from those who didn't eat their Wheaties this morning, because this one's a real mind-fucker. While The Stooges are officially kaput due to the tragic passing of founding guitarist Ron Asheton, Iggy Pop and James Williamson (guitar on Raw Power) recently talked of reuniting the Raw Power line-up of "Iggy and The Stooges." The Stooges Mk II line-up consisted of James Williamson on guitar, Ron Asheton relegated to bass duties, Scott Asheton on the drums and of course Iggy Pop on lead vocals, self-mutilation and peanut butter slathering. (This line-up is pictured right posing with what looks like David Bowie's underage male sex slave).
Quoteth Mr. Pop...
"I had a meeting in LA last week with James (Williamson). It was the first time we had seen each other in 30 years. So we talked about doing something together. 'Raw Power' would be the repertoire... There is always Iggy And The Stooges, the second growth of the band."
Interestingly The Stooges did not play any of Iggy and The Stooges' greatest hits from Raw Power at any of their reunion shows since 2003. Two words...Gimme Danger...
Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols previously volunteered to fill in for Ron Asheton in The Stooges but fuck it, I say it's time for Iggy and The Stooges. Who would replace Ron Asheton on bass? Most likely the current, non-original guy from The Stooges. I volunteer my services as lead bass roadie and also volunteer Craig Wettner to be David Bowie's cabin boy on this outing. And I also volunteer Dave Grohl to play drums for Nirvana.

I am fine with being Bowie's cabin boy. I would enjoy the fact that I will have sucked the same thing Mick Jagger did back in the 70s.
