Dead Kids Single "Snakes" Review and Video
I woke up this morning and rolled out of my racecar bed and checked the Blogs N' Roses email. This picture greeted me:
I then had to masturbate to try and either see if I was actually awake or to kill that scary cat. I was awake and that cat defied my masturbation to survive.
Attached to the email were two tracks from the UK band Dead Kids. I have no idea what their plan is or why they call themselves Dead Kids, but I would try and protect your children just in case. They graciously provided us with their new single Snakes and the B-side to that single called Wires.
I started Snakes and a badly tuned guitar twanged and then the song blew out my speakers. Hey Dead Kids, you owe me new speakers, you fuckers! I had to switch to my iPod.
The song has a very catchy synthesizer riff that provides the hook for the song. Occasionally, a woman...I think...provides a sexy siren-like vocal hook that would easily lead me to my death. I'm man enough to say, if that voice is a male, HE would lead me to my death.
It was first difficult for me to pick up the British accent, but nothing two listens couldn't rectify. The lyrics are simple "I like it, I like it, I don't like it." There is hardly any guitar on the song other than the kick ass opening, which by the way makes me feel like I am going to smash head on with a brick wall. The urgent guitars come back in with the chorus.
This song is heavily driven by drums, synthesizers, and that damn siren's voice. Think of The Killers, but with more European balls and soccer hooligan attitude.
The band even consulted me on what is your ultimate fantasy. I responded, "I want to be kicked around by hot European women, have cake smeared on my face, and then my ass kicked by a big bouncer-like dude."

We talked to the band, and in exchange for a snuff film I recently watched, they will give us their album for free when it comes out. It is totally awesome that a beautiful blond girl died so we could get a free cd. Thanks, unnamed blond girl!
