Jane's Addiction Play SXSW and Free Song Download
Matthew Odam of Austin360.com reports that the original lineup of JANE'S ADDICTION played a "surprise" set last night (Thursday, March 19) at C3 and Playboy's "Rock the Rabbit" show at the old Safeway in Austin, Texas as part of this year's SXSW (South by Southwest). Odam writes in the article, "[singer Perry] Farrell was in his usual form. Donned in white undershirt and neckerchief, he looked like an absinthe-soaked Parisian poet hell-bent on setting the world aflame with his fierce singing and overtly sexual charisma.

In other Jane's Addiction news, Billboard.com reports that Jane's Addiction is releasing two new studio tracks online today (March 20) via Ninja2009.com, the tour site for the forthcoming co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails. The two studio cuts available for free download are "Chip Away" and "Whores", both songs that fans will recognize from 1987's self-titled live release.
"Just to get some creative juice flowing- we went into the studio for about two weeks," Perry Farrell tells Billboard.com. "We had the idea to re-record two tunes, just because they'd never been done officially in the studio. And we had some fun writing some new things. A handful that are close to finished, but not quite done. But there's no rush to put anything out at this point."

Wow!, this was a real quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I keep putting it off and never seem to get something done.
