Things to Watch For At the Grammy Awards
After last year, the Grammy Awards have slowly become more about celebrating music and less about bloated awards that mean nothing. They have started having more on stage performances and strange musical match ups. No one really cares about the awards because the Grammy Award forever ruined itself by handing out Best New Artist to a pop duo who didn't sing a word. (Milli Vanilli).
So I tune in now to see the performances and if there is going to be any on stage meltdown. What should you be on the lookout for this year? Let me tell you.
Joe Satriani is in the midst of a bitter dispute about the plagiarism of his song "If I Could Fly" by Coldplay. Coldplay's Viva La Vida sounds like a direct rip off of Satriani's song and he has attempted to serve them court papers...papers they are refusing to accept. (Original article) Joe will try to serve the papers tonight because Coldplay will perform live. (Proof) Will Joe make a big scene about it? Tune in to find out.
Kanye West is up for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (two nominations in that category), Best Rap Sung/Collaboration, Best Rap Song, and Song of the Year. Knowing how much the Award shows hate Kanye and how much of a fucking baby he is about losing, will he make a scene?
And finally, the coolest collaboration performance has to be Dave Grohl playing drums for Paul McCartney in a Beatles Tribute. It will no doubt kick ass and be way more exciting than that Kanye West T.I. performance or the Jonas Brothers Stevie Wonder match up. (article)
The Grammy Awards start at 8:00 EST on CBS.
