Robert Plant Shoots Down Led Zeppelin Reunion...Again

PhotobucketThird rate bloggers like myself shit-talk Robert Plant for choosing Alison Krauss over the mighty Led Zeppelin. Sure, Bonzo choked on his own vomit almost thirty years ago but Bonzo Jr. will be on the skins...no harm no foul, right? But Jason Bonham and a shitload of tour money still isn't enough for Plant and he may have a valid point this time.

"The reason that it stopped was because we were incomplete and we've been incomplete now for 28 years. No matter what you do, you have to really guard the discretion of what you’ve done in the past and make sure that you have all the reasons and the right place to be able to do something with absolute and total conviction. I think the thing about it is really, is that to visit old ground, it's a very incredibly delicate thing to do, and the disappointment that could be there once you commit to that and the comparisons to something that was basically fired by youth and a different kind of exuberance to now, its very hard to go back and meet that head on and do it justice."

Hmm...that almost seems like a valid excuse, but if I were Plant I would say it like this (after I was done banging groupies half my age): "Lets be honest, Jimmy Page isn't going to wear his disco dragon suit, I can't fit into women's pants anymore and we are afraid we'd sound like the mellowed and grayed Rolling Stones."

Guard that legacy of awesomeness because I'd rather watch Gimme Shelter for the 35th time instead of seeing the stadium Stones play the mellow jazz rendition of "Paint It Black."

Or...Led Zeppelin might sound completely awesome like the rejuvenated Van Halen. Who knows, but they won't look as spectacular as they did back in '73.

Perhaps I should fall back on my old maxim regarding watching Led Zeppelin. "No dragon pants, no dice!"
