According to The Pulse of Radio, a new Smashing Pumpkins song called "FOL" will make its debut in a Hyundai car commercial that will air during the Super Bowl pre-game show this Sunday (February 1) on NBC-TV. The track acts as the score for a new ad promoting the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Hyundai VP of marketing Joel Ewanick said that the tune "offers the perfect 'kick-off' to Super Bowl advertising."

Ironically, it was just 10 months ago — in March of 2008 — that the Smashing Pumpkins slapped former label Virgin Records with a lawsuit, claiming that the company used the Pumpkins' name and music in a promotional campaign for Pepsi that supposedly damaged the group's credibility.

Frontman Billy Corgan said in a statement at the time, "We fought hard for the right to be in control of how our music is used, to avoid situations like this kind of crass commercialism and exploitation," adding that the use of the band's music in the Pepsi campaign threatened their "artistic integrity."

Don't stop there Billy. There is so much more to sell out for. How about James Iha voodoo dolls? The Billy Corgan Magic Eight Balls? Or the Corgan Wheaties?
