Evanescence Former Guitarist to Release Solo Album

Anyone remember that Evanescence actually was the idea of two people, Ben Moody and Amy Lee? Ah hell who cares she is a goth boys dream girl. Well Ben left the band for "creative differences," but it is probably because he couldn't deal with Amy Lee (my words not his).

We got this press release from Ben's people and it was very odd. I'll post parts of it. Here is the first paragraph:

Former EVANESCENCE guitarist/songwriter Ben Moody will release a solo album on March 3, 2009. The CD will feature a guest appearance by young Montana alternative rock/acoustic solo artist Hana Pestle, who is signed to Moody's label, FNR Records. Pestle's sound carries a unique blend of influences as diverse as Radiohead, Sarah Mclachlan, and The Cranberries. Hana Pestle is now touring the Midwest, performing her songs "These Two Hands", "Just a Phase" and her own haunting rendition of "Hallelujah". She will appear tonight (Tuesday, December 16) at Juanita's in Little Rock, Arkansas where she will be joined by Moody.

So the first communication with the press about what you have been doing is promoting this woman no one cares about. I realize this is a two-for-one deal because she is signed to Moody's label so why not promote her, but no one cares. Ok onto paragraph two.

Since his departure from Evanescence in 2003, Moody has collaborated with some of the hottest stars in the music business; the established and the up-and-comers. His songwriting and producing credits include working with Avril Lavigne on her second release "Under My Skin", penning "Nobody’s Home", "This Time" with Celine Dion "What About Now" from Chris Daughtry, and Moody co-wrote and produced the smash hit "Because of You" with David Hodges for Kelly Clarkson.

Ignore the run-on sentence explaining what he has written for other artists. Instead let's focus on this "Moody has collaborated with some of the hottest stars in the music business." Then the scum of the "pop" world are mentioned, Avril Lavigne, Daughtry (that is right Daughtry is pop not rock), and Kelly Clarkson. If they were my accoladates, I would try to keep them hidden especially if I wanted to work in the rock industry and have any rock cred. I will be sure to remember this if Ben's album is trying to be hard guitar rock like Guns N' Roses.

Is it me or does Ben only like working with women who kind of look like Amy Lee? Here is Hana Pestle and Amy Lee side by side. Who is who?
