Sales Prognostications for Chinese Democracy
According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, first-week U.S. sales prognostications for Guns N' Roses' long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy", are ranging anywhere from 300,000 to 500,000 (including a reported 25,000 downloads at iTunes). Thanks to a recent controversial Nielsen SoundScan ruling about counting digital sales, "Chinese Democracy" will not debut on this week's The Billboard 200 chart, but the following week, December 3.
Well since it is only Monday and the fucking album came out yesterday, let's not be too hasty on the prognostications Hits Daily Double. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. So is Kelly's hoover mouth down on 4th street in Wilmington. She told me while blowing me that Chinese Democracy was the record of choice for all the driving pimps trying to make a buck and the working girls trying to get some holiday cash.
If there is one thing I know it is that the soundtrack in the back of sex usually leads to a lifelong listener. I still listen to Ozzy's Bark at the Moon because it reminds me of a night of drunken indiscretion on my part. I walked back to the quad in college and blew right past the pink scrunchi on the door. There was some fake blond fellating my roommate, Kurt Faulkner, and that was his mood music. Nothing says I love ya baby like
Screams break the silence
Waking from the dead of night
Vengence is boiling
Hes returned to kill the light
Kurt was always a charmer.
