Smashing Pumpkins New York Setlist and Thoughts

The Smashing Pumpkins are on a 20th Anniversary tour of the United States. They (Corgan and Chamberlin) have decided to do two night stints with widely differing setlists each night.

There are several reports about these shows. Some reviews claim that it is a circle jerk for Corgan and Chamberlin (my words and take on things, not theirs). Some are reporting that Billy went on an extended 40 minute jam session and refused to play any of the hits.

Night one of the two night stint is called "White Crosses." Night two is entitled "Black Sunshine." Now take a look at White Crosses setlist:

'Ava Adore'
'Cupid De Locke'
'1979'
'99 Floors'
'Owata'
'Sunkissed'
'Soma'
'Cherub Rock'
'Zero'
'Bodies'
'Crestfallen'
'I Of The Mourning'
'A Song For A Son'
'Landslide'
'Disarm'
'MCIS Theme'
'Galapogos'
'Gossamer'
'As Rome Burns'
'The Sounds Of Science'
'The March Hare/Suffer'
'Age Of Innocence'
'That's The Way (My Love Is)'
'I Am One'

That is one KICK ASS setlist. It has some hits (1979, Disarm, Landslide [Fleetwood Mac cover], Cherub Rock), but then has some great lesser heard songs like "Cupid De Locke" and "Galapogos" (both from Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness).

Here is night two or Black Sunshine's setlist:

'Roctopus'
'Everybody Come Clap'
'Tarantula'
'G.L.O.W.'
'Siva'
'Eye'
'Mayonaise'
'Tonight, Tonight'
'Speed Kills'
'Transformer'
'Superchrist'
'United States'
'Once Upon A Time'
'The Crux'
'The Rose Machine'
'Today'
'Bullet With Butterfly Wings'
'The End Is The Beginning Is The End'
'Heavy Metal Machine'
'Glass'
'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun'
'We Only Come Out At Night'
'Everything Is Beautiful'

Again, a fantastic setlist with hits (Today, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Tonight Tonight) and some lesser known songs like We Only Come Out At Night [Mellon Collie] and Once Upon A Time [Adore]. I think if you are a true Pumpkins fan, both nights are not to be missed. You don't have much time to see them though. Here are the remaining tour dates:
